Job Description:
As a Freelance Translator for Speak Burma, you will be responsible for translating a variety of documents from Burmese to English and/or English to Burmese. This is a fully remote position, ideal for freelancers who want the flexibility to work from home while being part of a passionate team committed to linguistic excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Translate documents and content (business, legal, medical, etc.) from Burmese to English and vice versa.

• Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in translation.

• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information (see agreement below).

• Deliver translations within the agreed timeline.

• Collaborate with our project managers on specific translation requirements.

Confidentiality Agreement:
As part of this role, you will be required to handle sensitive and confidential information. By accepting freelance assignments, you agree to the following confidentiality terms:

• You will not disclose any confidential information, proprietary content, or documents related to the work to third parties without prior written consent.

• All translations and materials must be used solely for the purpose of completing the assigned projects.

• Upon completion of each project, you agree to return or securely delete any confidential documents, files, or materials associated with the project.

• Breach of confidentiality may result in the termination of your contract and legal action.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in both Burmese and English languages (written and spoken).

• Proven experience as a translator, interpreter, or relevant linguistic background.

• Strong understanding of cultural context in both Burmese and English languages.

• Ability to work under tight deadlines.

• Experience with translation tools (CAT tools) is a plus but not required.

• Attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in translating legal, healthcare, or business-related content.

• Familiarity with Burmese dialects and nuances.

• A degree in linguistics, translation, or related fields is a plus.
